Printing Problems

The main printer we use is the HP Laser-Jet 9050 I call her Betty. Betty has a habit of throwing tantrums at the least convenient times. Paper jams are one of them. Usually if a paper jam occurs, the main screen displays the location. Simply fallow the instructions, remove the paper jam, & return everything in order. Betty will run a check to clean her self out. If the paper jam continues constantly, open up the paper tray. If the paper is 8”x11” & the tray holders are set for 14”x17”, the paper stack will shift causing the paper jam.

Out Of Toner

Toner is expensive. If someone says “We need toner, because the printer is reading low.” then most likely its just a warning. Look at the message, it will tell you how many pages you can print with it. Press OK and it will resume printing, if not then take out the toner & shake it up a bit.

Error messages

when I print Error messages can occur at any time. the most common is a failure to communicate with the printer. The printer is connected by a LAN connection & If the Port is down, you can’t print. To fix this particular problem check to see if the Ethernet cable is pushed in. If they are, click on the start menu and click on the search bar. Type Command Prompt then hit enter & a command bar will appear. On the line that says C:\Users\(the account name) type “ipconfig”. You should see information resembling to (Diagram 1.3). Look at the line that says IPv4 Address, next to it should be a series of numbers starting with 192. If not type “ipconfig -release” then “ipconfig -renew”. If it says you can’t obtain an IP address restart the computer and check to see if IP can be gained. If not get someone to put a ticket for networks to look at the problem.
